What Is Sharing? It´s All About Caring. Sharing For Kids

This is a fantastic book, it teaches not just how to share but why you should as well. It uses words that are easy to understand and pictures to help keep a child's interest. It is a step by step manual on how and why you should share. It never sounds "preachy" but instead is simply a guide for this lost attribute.

I highly suggest you grab a copy and either read it to your child or have them read it to you. This book WILL cause a conversation, which is good, and it will give you a way to speak about the subject and cover things you might have forgotten to mention if not for the book.

It is free TODAY so grab a copy and the grab your kids and sit down with them and discuss what sharing is.

This is a very good story, it was translated into English by a 10th grader. Please do not let that make you think that the book is not worth it. The pictures, the story and the flow of the book are all perfect. The story is simply one of the old folk tales that we all grew up with, not necessarily this exact story but ones just like it. Help your child learn a story that is outside of the "norm" and increase their view of the world...... this is a great book and it is free today.

Cooking with the Alphabet (Cooking with Kids Series)

This book is another great one from Debbie Madson and we always appreciate when she has another book available for free. The idea behind this book is a great idea and I KNOW actually works. The concept is pretty simple, you take food that starts with a letter, lets say "A" and you then help your children make the food. This gives you the opportunity to spend time with your child, they will actually listen as you explain the sounds that the letter makes and you can even get a bit more creative and make some of the food into the shape of the letter you are working on that day.

This book is full of recipes and ideas on how to do this simple lesson with your child. You will have fun, your child will have fun, you will be making life long memories and helping to give your child a head start. Window Boy

Window boy is one of those rare books that almost any aged person will love. It is aimed at the preteen set but adults will like it as well. The story follows the life of Sam a boy with  cerebral palsy. If you think it is to depressing you would be wrong. It is tough to read about the youngster who loves sports but is trapped in his "broken" body but he has such a wonderful mind.

The book would be helpful, in my opinion, to help children understand others who are not quite the same as themselves. It will break your heart in places but it will also make you marvel. You and your children will reread this book several times and will actually sit around talking about it for weeks.

It is free today so grab a copy and make sure that you give your rating of it on Amazon after reading the book.

Book description from Amazon -
Crazy about basketball, twelve-year-old Sam Davis longs to be a part of the team that practices outside his window. But Sam’s different from the other boys: he has cerebral palsy. Confined to a wheelchair, Sam’s never touched a basketball. He’s never even been to school.
It’s 1968, and only a few enlightened educators understand that a boy like Sam might have a brain that’s as good as anybody else’s. When the Stirling Junior High principal finally agrees to let Sam enter sixth grade, Sam gets his chance to move into the world beyond his window.
All Sam knows about school, he’s learned from Miss Perkins, the English lady who cleans his apartment. Perkins spends hours reading to Sam about Winston Churchill. Sam knows so much about him that Winnie— as they call him—starts talking to Sam in his head. At first, Sam doesn't understand what a boy in a wheelchair has in common with one of the world’s greatest leaders, but Winnie says, Don't you see Sam? I was just a boy once, too. A boy nobody believed in.
Junior High school can be difficult, not just for boys in wheelchairs. Sam learns that if he can't make it work at Stirling, there are places for boys like him. When the challenges seem overwhelming, Winnie reminds Sam, Our lives are what we choose to make of them. If Sam can only believe in Winnie, he‘ll finally be part of the team—a window boy no longer.

Little spider Twigs has a lot of friends and all his friends are Spiders. They like to play together as all kids do. People created a lot of tales about Spiders. They think that Spiders are scary and angry. Kids will learn that in fact spiders are very beneficial for people, because they fight mosquitoes and pests.

This book is written to teach children to be responsible towards animals. If children learn to love and respect animals, they will become reliable and responsible adults.

Note: This book is suitable for children 7 years and older (or parents may want to read this book with their children).

Book description from the Author.

Children are thoroughly enchanted with the original concept of "Snow Alligators".
This story establishes a new myth.
It places Snowmen as the defenders against Snow Alligators, and only Snowmen built by children have the necessary magic to ward off this snow menace.
Children delight in this innocuous fearsome threat. It perpetuates the construction of snowmen, and solidifies a reason for this already common activity.
In warm or seasonally cold climates, this story fires a child's imagination.

On the very last page is the word "scare!"
Adults should use this opportunity to explode and to tickle the child. From then on, children will often giggle with anticipation of this activity and the nature of the story.

Ideal for a bedtime read.

If you like this one, other stories like 'Cross Your Fingers', 'Everyone has a Name', 'Gingersnap Dragons', 'Foggy Daze', or 'Sick Again' you will find great for family laughs.
Alternatively, I have several fully illustrated stories, like 'Monsters I Know', 'Kids I Know', 'Hector the Collector', or 'Marmalade Jam and Chocolate Eclairs',and some others that are simply magical to experience, like 'The Immovable Rock' or 'The Very Last Apple'...these are the feel-good kind of bedtime stories that everyone looks for when reading to children. The best illustrations are often inside the imaginations of children. www.readingtochildren.com

My stories are designed for both the reader and the listener.
Children will request parents to re-read, over and over again, a story that has caught their imagination.
If not in rhyme, these stories will quickly become dull and a burden to read.
When written in free verse, a story is both a delight to read and to hear.
The reader feels accomplished when reading my stories and, in the act of story telling, begins exaggerating tone, inflection, and mood.

When constructed in free verse rhyme, while reading along, children quickly begin to retain portions of each story.
Once the child begins reading independently, these stories act as memory assisting templates to guide the beginning reader through their first reading selections. The reading successes of a child will fuel additional comprehension activities and help to jump start reading skills that greatly motivate the young reader.

For the adult reader these stories are always a treat.
I understand the necessity to include a readers interests and needs as part of the story telling activities.

The length of these stories is designed to be between 10 to 15 minutes, to act as a short break or bedtime activity. Unlike Dr. Suess, I have avoided making up new nouns and adjectives for purposes of rhyme,
other than some tintinnabulation (words designed to give greater description of sounds), finding that teachers do not appreciate this activity.

I find that by identifying children by full name, as the story characters, it adds a sense of character reality and identity. The children accept the diversity of people, which, in turn, opens the imagination to accepting limitless fictional situations and opportunities.

My stories constitute several conceptual elements to motivate reading and precipitate a positive child's reading development.

For all teachers and Friends, I applaud your support in exposing free verse reading to young children. Your efforts to improve early perceptions of reading will provide children with a foundation for continued learning comprehension and development.

A Book of Dog Breeds

A Book of Dog Breeds for Children is FREE to download Feb. 4 thru Feb. 8.

This is an e-book for young children introducing them to the idea of different dog breeds. I found when teaching very young children about dogs; they seemed to be confused when taught (for example) that a poodle was a dog, then seeing a Chihuahua that it was a dog as well.

This is an educational, yet fun book for parents to read to young children, or for early readers. It can also be a way to teach about dogs for children that might be afraid of them, in a safe, nurturing way.

The book contains photographs of 18 different dog breeds, some common, some unusual. It also contains some exercises for parents and children to do together that can foster fun, giggles, and bonding time.
